How did you first get involved with UC Davis Extension’s Center for International Education?
Nepotism! Hehe. Back in 2007, a good friend of mine used to work for the International Law unit. At the time he mentioned a sister unit (IEPP) was hiring. He enjoyed working in the international environment, and based on my background, thought it would be a mutually pleasant relationship.
What has surprised you the most about working with UC Davis Extension’s Center for International Education? And what is your favorite thing about the job?
I’ve seen so much over the years that, honestly, not a lot around here really surprises me anymore. The thing I enjoy most about my work is being able to share culture, customs and language with all of the international students. They come here to learn, but they in turn teach us just as much as we teach them.
What might others be surprised to know about you?
I’ve flown across the Pacific 36 times over the last 10 years.
What is your favorite activity that happens in our summer programs? What did you do at the event?
Listening to the student speakers at the 4-week graduation ceremonies. It’s such a pleasure to hear about their experiences while living and studying in Davis!
